Trekking Routes in the Alpujarra within the Sierra Nevada Natural Park and Its White Villages
The Sierra Nevada Natural Park and the Granadan Alpujarra offer an unforgettable experience for trekking enthusiasts. With routes adapted to different skill levels, you will have the opportunity to explore this unique territory while immersing yourself in its rich history and natural beauty. Some of the top options include the “Medieval Route of the Tahá Villages,” “Poqueira Gorge,” and “Cebadilla.” At the end of the trek, you will enjoy a guided tasting of artisanal cheeses made from goat’s milk, sourced from herds grazing in the idyllic landscapes of the Alpujarra.
One of the most fascinating routes is the Poqueira Gorge, where we will cross the Poqueira River and explore its famous white villages, such as Pampaneira, Bubión, and Capileira. Along the way, we will traverse the opposite side of the river, ascending through its imposing gorge, adorned with ancient Arab irrigation channels that still function today. This route offers breathtaking views of the white villages, whose Moorish architecture will transport you to the past. Additionally, you will experience a unique blend of Mediterranean vegetation, including oaks, chestnuts, poplars, and fruit trees, enhancing the region’s charm.
The experience culminates with a visit to an artisanal cheesemaking facility, where a local master cheesemaker will guide you through an authentic tasting of their products. You will have the chance to sample high-quality cheeses and yogurts, recognized with international awards such as the prestigious Concours International de Lyon. This activity perfectly blends nature, history, and gastronomy, making it an ideal choice for those seeking a well-rounded experience.

No somos senderistas de afición pero de vacaciones siempre nos gusta conocer el entorno a través de un guía profesional y cualificado. Con Lorena hemos dado en el clavo: nos ha explicado todo el entorno natural de Sierra Nevada y de estos 3 pueblos encantadores, haciéndonos descubrir tanto sus vinos, quesos, productos naturales, como el sistema constructivo local. Esta ruta es un privilegio, barata y excelente para todos los públicos, hasta para nuestra bebé de 9 meses montada en mi mochila los 11 km! Lorena siempre pendiente que todo iba bien. La cata de vino y quesos deliciosos y no puedes resistirte de fomentar el comercio local con delicatessen que hoy día es siempre más difícil encontrar. La guinda en la tarta? Me alegra mucho cuando las personas que se acercan de cuando en cuando a la montaña la disfruten y la quieran conocer en profundidad, como Alessio y Cristina y también la pequeña Mar, aunque ella es aún pequeña también formó parte de nuestra excursión.
