Enjoy a Complete Cheese and Herding Workshop: Make Traditional Fresh Málaga Cheese and Experience Life as a Shepherd for a Day
Just 20 minutes from Málaga city. An authentic and enriching experience awaits you: a cheese and herding workshop designed for those who want to disconnect from urban life and immerse themselves in the rural world, guided by one of its most iconic figures — the native Malagueña goat. This animal is not only part of the region’s landscape, but also a symbol of its culture, economy, and gastronomy.
Our proposal includes three main activities:
Visit to the Malagueña Goat Museum: We’ll begin with a tour of a small yet charming museum located in the old town constable’s house. There, you’ll learn about the history of the Malagueña goat, its significance in the region, and fascinating facts about its breeding — all presented in an engaging and accessible way for all ages.
Artisanal Cheese-Making Workshop: Time to get hands-on! Guided by local experts, each participant will craft their own traditional fresh Málaga-style cheese, learning every step of the process — from raw milk to the mold. At the end, you’ll taste your own creation alongside other local products and experience the authentic flavor of handcrafted cheese.
Herding Native Goats: To complete the experience, we’ll step into the shepherd’s shoes and accompany a herd of goats on their daily walk through the countryside. You’ll learn about traditional herding practices, how to interact with the animals, and even try your hand at milking or using a honda.
This experience is perfect for families, groups of friends, nature lovers, or anyone interested in exploring rural heritage in a fun and hands-on way.
