Trekking Sierra Nevada National Park with the Pajuna Cattle Rancher
This Sierra Nevada National Park Trek takes place on the northern side, with an approximate route of 12 km and a medium-high difficulty level (MIDE). During the journey, we will visit the native cattle of the National Park, starting from Puerto de la Ragua.
This experience requires a minimum group of 8 people.
Our adventure begins at the Puerto de la Ragua parking lot, where we will meet the Pajuna cattle rancher. From this point, we will start the hike towards the “La Chorrera” area in the Sierra de Aldeire, a stunning location where Pajuna cattle graze during the summer season within the Sierra Nevada National Park.
Along the way, the rancher will share detailed information with the group about the characteristics of the Pajuna breed, their management in the summer pastures, as well as his experience and knowledge of the area. This is a unique opportunity to learn closely about rural life in Sierra Nevada and the importance of traditional livestock farming in the conservation of the ecosystem.
Recommendations for the experience:
-
Bring a picnic for the hike and enough water (at least 1 liter per person).
-
There will be a special surprise at the end of the journey.
-
Optional tasting of Pajuna beef at a local restaurant. To choose this option, select “Pajuna Cow Lunch” when making the reservation.
-
Medium difficulty trail, approximately 12 km, suitable for people with mountain hiking experience, including children with good physical condition.
-
It is essential to wear hiking boots, long pants, and a windbreaker or jacket. It is recommended to check the weather forecast before the activity. GOinsitu will keep the group informed at all times.
