Hiking Through the Pinsapo Forest🌲, Woodland Lunch & “Forest Resources” Workshop

We are fortunate to live and work in a privileged and truly unique location within the Sierra de las Nieves National Park. It is a pleasure to share carefully crafted experiences that allow you to discover this extraordinary landscape from within. This is far more than a hiking route — it is a sensory and educational immersion in one of the most singular forests of the Mediterranean.

The experience begins with a guided interpretive hike through the ancient pinsapo forest, led by qualified professionals and passionate nature guides. Along the way, you will explore the different ecosystems that shape this exceptional natural environment and gain a deeper understanding of the sustainable and respectful management of natural resources.

One of the main protagonists of the experience is the pinsapo fir (Abies pinsapo), an endangered species and the true forest jewel of Andalusia. It is the only fir tree native to southern Spain and a living relic of the prehistoric fir forests of the Tertiary period, first described for science in 1837 by Swiss botanist Edmond Boissier. Walking among these millenary trees is a journey through time that invites reflection and respect for nature.

During the hike, you will also learn about aromatic plants, local wildlife and the importance of conservation. Direct contact with the forest — its silence, scents and filtered light — allows you to disconnect from daily routines and reconnect with what truly matters.

After approximately 2.5 hours of hiking, you will reach La Morada del Pinsapo, the only nature classroom in the world built with pinsapo wood. In this unique setting, you will enjoy a very special woodland lunch, featuring organic, zero-kilometre products prepared with care by local producers committed to sustainability and the preservation of the territory.

The experience concludes with a hands-on workshop focused on forest resources, adapted to the season:

  • 🐝 Bees and their ecological importance (spring)
  • 🌱 Sowing acorns or Mediterranean plants (year-round)
  • 🌿 Aromatic herb sachets (spring)
  • 🍄 Mushroom cultivation or seasonal planting (autumn)

Designed for families, couples and conscious travellers, this experience is ideal for those seeking authentic, meaningful and sustainable nature-based experiences.

A multisensory immersion in nature that leaves a lasting impression long after you return home.
