Hiking Among Spanish Firs, Forest Lunch and “Forest Resources” Workshop

We are fortunate to be located in a truly unique and privileged area within the Sierra de las Nieves National Park, and we are delighted to share thoughtfully curated experiences that include hiking among Spanish firs (Pinsapos), allowing you to fully appreciate their beauty, unique characteristics, and ecological benefits.

In this family-friendly experience, you will be guided by knowledgeable professionals and passionate nature lovers, all with specific training. You will explore the various ecosystems that make this environment exceptional and gain a new perspective on the sustainable and respectful management of natural resources.

You will discover the Spanish fir (Abies pinsapo), an endangered species and considered a jewel of Andalusian forestry as it is the only fir native to the region. A living relic from prehistoric Tertiary-period forests, it was first documented scientifically by the Swiss botanist Edmond Boissier in 1837.

As you hike among these majestic trees, you will also learn about local aromatic plants, wildlife, and the critical importance of conservation. Immersed in nature, you will disconnect from the demands of daily life and reconnect with the essentials—breathing pure air and taking in stunning landscapes.

The 2.5-hour hike concludes at La Morada del Pinsapo, the only nature classroom in the world built from Spanish fir wood. Here, you will enjoy a unique gastronomic experience featuring zero-kilometer, organic products, lovingly prepared by local producers dedicated to sustainability.

The day concludes with a seasonal workshop on forest resources: bees (spring), planting acorns or Mediterranean plants (year-round), aromatic sachets (spring), or mushroom cultivation and sowing (autumn).
